“ONE MOM’S STORY”

In May 2005, one MMOBster mom in California took it upon herself to go to her daughters' public high school, armed with nothing more than voter registration forms, PTA support, and her passion about the importance of voting.

She arranged to go to the senior classrooms and make a presentation to the students about voter registration.

She broke through the teenage glaze of boredom with her Fast Facts, and ended up registering 320 students of the Class of 2005.  By the time she was done, the teachers and students actually applauded her in thanks!

This mom has been back to her daughters' high school every year since then. Her visits have become an institution among the teachers, and by now, she has registered almost 1,000 students!

In the process, by committing her personal time to visit the school and register the students, this volunteer signaled to the kids how important it is that they exercise their precious right to vote.

The MMOB has transformed this parent's school presentations into Vote@18: Moms Sign Up the Senior Class, to give MMOBsters all over the country the tools you need to go into your own schools and register high school seniors to vote.
